To enable broadcast dog device go to
1. Setup
2. System
3. Enable broadcast dog data
4.Make sure all other Alpha devices are turned off
1.Turn Tread On
2. Click Apps on home screen
3.Locate and click the blue dog tracking symbol
1. If your device is brand new or has been reset the Alpha device should automatically connect.
2. If there has been a device previoulsey connected to your Alpha XL you will need to click (Wrench in top left corner < Unpair < Select Yes) From there ot will auto pair to new device

How to Set Up and Download Maps:
Step 1: Connect to Wi-FiTap Settings > Wireless Networks > Wi-Fi, turn it On, and connect to your home or mobile hotspot by selecting the network and entering the password.
Step 2: Pair with the Garmin Tread App via BluetoothDownload the Garmin Tread app on your smartphone. Open it and follow the pairing instructions. On your Tread XL, tap Settings > Wireless Networks > Bluetooth, ensure it’s On, and complete the pairing.Step.
3: Log into Your Garmin AccountUse the Tread app to sign in to your Garmin account. Your Tread XL will sync with your account, giving you access to map downloads.
Step 4: Access Outdoor Maps+Tap Apps > Outdoor Maps+ on the Tread XL screen to browse available satellite imagery and outdoor content.
Step 5: Download Satellite MapsUse the touchscreen to pan and zoom into the area you want. Tap Download to save the map to your device for offline use in the field.

The need for dog tracks on map varys between every hunter. For many hunters if you have more then one dog in a small area having your entire hunts track showing up can be way to much and your screen ends up looking like spaghetti. Here's how to change that

Step 4: Click Wrench in Left Corner
Step 5: Select Dog Tracks on Map
Step 6: Select how long you would like your tracks to show up. You have the option for none, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, and show all.
Audible Dog Alerts send a tone like sound every time your dog trees, bays, points, barks, etc. Depending on how you have your device set up. Follow these steps to turn it on/ off

Step 4: Click Wrench in Left Corner
Step 5: Locate Audible Dog Alerts and press the grey square to the far right to enable/ disable the sounded dog alerts. (If there is an orange check in the box the alerts are on)

Step 6: Click Confirm and clear tracks
Garmin Tread & Alpha Handheld Connection Help
If your Garmin Tread isn’t connecting to your Alpha handheld (like the Alpha 200i or 300i), follow the steps below.
Note: The Alpha XL is not compatible with the Garmin Tread and cannot be paired.
Make sure both devices are updated. Use the Garmin Tread app to update your Tread. Use the Garmin Alpha app to update your Alpha handheld.
Try reconnecting your Alpha handheld. On your Tread, go to Apps, tap Adventure, select Dog Tracking, then tap the wrench icon in the bottom-left corner.
If it's still not connecting, try unpairing and reconnecting.
To unpair your Tread and Alpha handheld: Go to Apps, tap Adventure, select Dog Tracking, tap the wrench icon, select Unpair, and confirm that you want to unpair.
Once unpaired, go back to the Dog Tracking screen and follow the prompts to pair your handheld again.
Tips: Keep both devices within 30 feet. Make sure Bluetooth or ANT+ is turned on in your Alpha handheld. Restart both devices if pairing fails.
